Wren San Clemente
CEO/Head Trainer/Decoy
Hi! I’m Wren San Clemente, founder of San Clemente Training. I grew up training thanks to my mother who was a trainer in her youth. She taught 4-H and AKC obedience classes as a young woman, and when I was just 7 years old she began to teach me. I started with our family dogs, teaching one to run agility and the other to herd. Soon I was dog walking for neighbors and was practicing training their dogs. I helped friends here and there as I grew and it quickly became clear that I am good with animals. When I was 16, I adopted my first personal dog, a whippet French foxhound mix. She sparked my desire to learn more about behavior modification and scent work.
At 18 I purchased my first Belgian malinois and that was the beginning of a whole new field of specialty for me. After training her for two years, while also helping friends and family with their dogs, I realized a close friend needed a service dog. He and I worked closely to build her up to work for him, and it was he who insisted I start charging people for my help. Over the years I began training and teaching agility, behavior modification, protection, service work, tracking, and herding. I have worked with sheriff departments to correct problems in their K9’s, paired service dogs I personally raised and trained, and rehabilitated highly aggressive dogs.
My passion for dog training comes from a desire to understand those who cannot speak. I believe we should never stop learning, and I bring that core belief to my training every day. This flexibility and willingness to entertain new ideas is vital in understanding what and how any particular dog is motivated. When I founded this business, I knew how to train; however, I have learned over the years that there is always more to learn, and thanks to that, I will never stop striving to be the best advocate for dogs and the people in their lives.
